Raising A Girl

After reading all these blogs about being a mother to a little girl and all the things these momma's want to teach there girls. I though I would share a few things I want to teach my daughter. Some of my own and some shared with other moms.

Getting ready to bring this little girl into the world is one of the scariest things I have done. I wasn't nervous about marrying my husband. I knew we WOULD NOT fail. Never a doubt in my mind about that. God gave me a good one. Before we knew we were having a girl I was more comfortable with the  idea of having a boy. The thought of another little boy in the world like my husband melted my heart. I was excited about seeing Perry get to teach him all the "BOY" stuff and watch him grow into a wonderful you man like his daddy. Well God apparently has other plans for us. He has always known how to stretch my comfort zone. So he is giving me a girl. What a scary thought! I was talking to my friend Jen this morning about how we don't want our little girls to make the same mistakes we did. Ugh! I don't want her to experience some of the heartache I did. I wish I could protect her from all the horrible things that will come her way. I know I can't. As much as that is any parents goal to protect there kids from everything, they can't. What I can do is do my best to "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it."Proverbs 22:6. The effort my parents took to teach me about God's unfailing love and his mercy. I always knew who to fall back on. When I couldn't trust my friends or a man or people in general I knew I could always trust in Him. I knew that no matter that mistakes I made or how far off the tracks I got he would be right there waiting and forgiving and loving. I've never once not felt loved. I have been blessed with a loving family always loving friends and the love of the most amazing man! Now I am going to be blessed with a sweet little girl!! Oh how I can't wait to love on her!
