Introducing Violet Elizabeth!

Well we are introducing her a little late on here, but better late then never.

Violet Elizabeth was born December 21,2012 at 37weeks (and that's with Jan 8th as the due date Dr. Conrad actually had Jan 15th written down so really she was 36weeks 3 days) It was quite an eventful day, but she was just ready to come..

Here's the story:

We went for our 37 week check up on Thursday the 20th. Everything went great BP was a little high but they weren't worried. She was measuring 42 weeks already so the Dr said he would have to intervene around 38weeks since she was already measuring so big. He checked me and there was ZERO progress so he said we were cleared to go ahead and travel home for the holidays.

That night my Dad and oldest brother came into town and we had dinner and just relaxed around the house. Something felt a little off, but I never made anything of it. Well I woke up at 3am cramping miserably. I kept getting up to go to the bathroom but nothing was really happening.  So I just kept going back to bed and tossing and turning. I was so uncomfortable that I never went back to sleep. My other Brother(Josh) was traveling over night to Birmingham from Cleveland and decided to give me a call at 5am to tell me he was going to come to my house and catch up on some sleep because he was tired of driving. Luckily I was up and saw my phone light up and answered. Anyways, I didn't want to make a big deal out of the pain to my family so I moved to a spot on my couch and stayed there til they all left around 8 that morning. I was texting with my friend Heather and told her how I was feeling and told her that I was waiting on my Dr office to open so that I could call them. She insisted that I just go to labor and delivery but stubborn me decided to wait. I was waiting on a call back from my dr office when she showed up at my house and she could tell something was different. My face was blood red, probably from my high blood pressure. When my nurse called she of course told me to go to labor and delivery. I didn't panic. As a matter of fact I kept saying to heather its no big deal its probably nothing. She said maybe we should bring your bags just in case and I was like No its no biggee.. I even told Perry to stay at work and I would call him if it was anything serious.

We arrived at the hospital and they hooked me up to the monitors and started running a bunch of tests. I'll never forget a lot of things from this day , but this I will always remember.

Heather asked our nurse (Molly) "So what do you think?" and her response was " Well, I think we are gonna have a baby today!" Perry(who decided to go ahead and come up to the hospital) just starred at each other.  His response was "Like, Today?" hahaha It was a crazy time!

Here was our timeline of events:
3:00 am Started having period like cramps with some heartburn
9:00 Call the doctor and left message
9:30 Nurse called and said to go to labor and delivery to get checked out
9:50 Heather and I arrived at the hospital. Perry was right behind.
11:03 They told us they thought I was in early labor. They did blood work. Nurse said that she thought we would have a baby before Christmas.
11:46 I was checked and the nurse said I was 3cm dilated.
12:14 pm The nurse came back is and said, “we’re admitting you and your having a baby today.”
2:13 The pain started to get stronger.
3:05 asked for an epidural and was check 5-6cm
5:09 water broke
6:42 5-6cm
7:37 Perry text and said shes 6cm and there rotating you back a forth
8:10 7cm
8:20 Perry just text and said there going to check you in 20min and we might have a green light to start pushing
8:36 9cm 95% efaced
8:57 room closed
9:45 I got a text 7lbs 11oz 21”

I had a bad reaction to the epidural which wasn't fun and when it was time to start pushing I got sick and threw up a few times. Other than that everything went perfectly.

She was born on 12/21/12 at 9:37pm
7lbs 11oz and 21inches long

I'm so grateful she came when she did. If she would have waited til January 15th to come she would have been 12lbs and no telling how long! Haha
